Help - Installing a cast aluminum lower airbox

I would like to install this aluminum lower air box that I got from a Volvo on my 16V Scirocco.  Volvo's used the same type of CIS-E (they refer to it as K-Jetronic).  The one problem I have is what to do with the hose comming off the pressure regulator into the air box.  On the opposite side is a very small hole inside the air box.   It seems that 8V's don't use it but the 16V's do and Volvo's don't seem to have it either.  I can't image it is vaccum as the whole lower part of my air box doesn't exist anymore.  It has been removed and only enough remains to hold the filter in place.

Here is the two of them together.  The aluminum part actually replaces the black plactic part still connected to the upper airbox.
