Okay, you lost me at BSD...  :-)  Don't explain it to me, I am sure that it 
will only make my head hurt more...  8-(

If it was Ford that was the trouble (in part), then why did they not pay fines 
for their mismanagement?  Firestone was the one that was fined. Ford did not 
pay because they have more lobbyists than the whole of the tire industry 
combined (Frontline, PBS, about two years ago?)  Firestone said that Ford had 
their recommended tire pressure too low, by 2 lbs.!  And that caused these 
cars to blow their tires?  I think not!  The 'Exploder' is prone to roll (two 
inches wider lowered the chances by something stupid like 80%), and the 
Firestones are prone to blow.  Two companies both with some responsibility, 
and one got all the blame.  It goes back to my first point (not that you 
argued that one Julie), whoever has the most money, wins...

This situation is not quite the same as the MS situation, IMHO...
