This is a little late, but what I did on my Scirocco was take one of the
bolts out of the top of the bellhousing, shine up the head on the wire
brush side of the bench grinder, find a small, short bolt (6mm shank,
maybe?, and weld them head-to head so the shank of the small bolt formed a
stud at the top of the bellhousing bolt, just like the A2, A3, etc bolt
that the big ground goes to.  A couple of quick touches with the MIG and
you're in good shape.  It made a huge difference with the starter
cranking speed.  You can crank that bellhousing bolt down to proper torque
and just screw a terminal and nut onto the stud on top.
