Yep; it's always an option later on. Heck, if I come across a cheap setup
I might be up to it myself.

When you say that it bogs down, do you mean out of gear (just sitting
there idling) or when you try to drive it? Does it 'hesitate' when you
step on the gas before reacting?

operating rpms? Okay, so it runs at below normal RPMs when you first
start it then? 500 rpm? 600? 1100?

Heh, heh. That doesn't put you out in the clear, unfortunately. There are
quite a few things that can go wrong with your ignition system.
Granted, its more likely an air-fuel issue than ignition.. but there are
culprits like the knock sensor and hall sender that cause operational
weirdness.

I would start by looking for vacuum leaks. Check your big rubber intake
boot, all the vacuum hoses, etc. Replace your fuel injector seals and make
sure any missing ports for missing vacuum lines are plugged up.

Ah, then it probably has to do with motor rotation. Check that your
exhaust isn't hitting the front swaybar. I had a broken hanger there and
had that effect. Replaced it with a chain hanger (rubber hanger with a
chain molded inside) and it hasn't been a problem since.

If you're talking about the downpipe flex joint then yes those are a pain.

Mine didn't rattle.. or at least if it did I never would have known
because the exhaust itself was so loud. :>

Rattles are a pain. You just have to look and look until you find out
where they are coming from so you can stop them. Get a friend to hold the
throttle while you poke your head under the car and jab stuff (heat
shields, etc) with a broomstick to see if it stops rattling.

These things are probably fine.. more likely than not you've just got some
metal touching metal down by your exhaust or on the underside of
the chassis.

No kidding!! If you can deal with motor mounts you're probably patient
enough to attempt less taxing jobs.

Pffft. Loosers :)

They'll never know the joy of 16 valves singing in harmony at 7200 rpm!
