OT: Als new camera

Well, i was going to go with the seemingly badass sony dsc-f828 (to the
left):

but this page of the review was enough to dissuade me:

problem #1: purple fringing on high glare areas
problem #2: oversaturated greens have a blue cast to them
...when you have a bright green car, that you photograph in direct sunlight
most of the time, it really wont help if it ends up as a bluish car with
purple glare spots all over it <g>.

so... i ended up finding a pretty good deal on the DSC-F717 (the camera to
the right in that first pic).

getting this one in particular:

auction ended below reserve, but i worked out a deal with the guy.

those remembering my old camera, it was the DSC-F707 (to the left):

Anyhow, those interested in the high megapixel cameras may want to strongly
consider the DSC-F717. It is a very good camera, and it can be had for VERY
low prices at the moment, since many are moving to the 828, ebay is flooded
with hardly used 717's right now. For example, i got that 717 for cheaper
than i sold my 707 for a month ago, and the 717 had a *bunch* more extras
with it.

Advantages of 717 over 707:
- histogram in viewfinder
- colors are more 'true', no oversaturated reds / greens (707 oversaturated
the rieger a few times)
- hot shoe for flash (707 has cold shoe)
