(OT)I would like to ask you all a question...(Long)

I agree with most of what Mark said, however I don't agree with the 'waiting period' of lurking. This isn't a fraternity or something, it's an email list where in my opinion, nobody is any better than anyone else. When it comes to the whole flywheel debate, I don't think it would have mattered if he had been on the list for months instead of days. He had his opinion, which he firmly believed in and others had their's. Sometimes you just can't convince people that they're right/wrong and just have to let them believe what they want.

The main problem I see is that while David is very active, he still doesn't really know the rest of the regularly active crew. Personalities and intentions are always tough to gauge over the net, but when you kind of have a feel for people, it helps. Larry comes to mind. He's simply a confused old guy who thinks this is a forum and he will win a prize if he has the most posts. His one sentence posts sometimes are useful or at least slightly helpful and he is a bit of a joker. By calling you Davie, he was just using the same words Cathy used. Think of him as that uncle who always teases the hell out of you at family get togethers, but is still a good, knowledgable guy.

Everyone from every walk of life, career, etc is welcome on the list. Yes, even our beloved Josh Able. And if you make firm statements on subjects that are not quite black and white (the trailer comes to mind), expect opinions on the opposite side of things as well. As I see it, all is good.

Dan
PS- Although this is primarily to David, since it's going to the list (everyone else posted it there) that's why it's 3rd person.
