T'aint a problem you will have to deal with, McGee... :-)

A coil pack replaces the distributor, it is a direct-fire ignition. The comupter senses 'pulses' from a magnetic sensor in the bellhousing (ETKA calls these 'impulse senders). That tells the computer when to fire the ignition without need of a distributor. It is much more accurate as well, as you do not have all the gearing slop that you would with a dist. The coil packs tend to have the amplifiers built in as well (an amplifier you would not see on your car originally, unless you updated to a pointless ignition system... When the coil packs go out, it is nine times out of ten, the amplifier alone that has failed. One reason why they are so expensive is because of the fact that you are buying two items... Everything is an assembly anymore... Eventually, the engines themselves will be complete assemblies! [/rant]

Cheers,
  David
