Rear wheel bearing help 16V (kinda long, sorry)

OK, got both sets of wheel bearings (inner and outer) for the rear, and I noticed one face (side?) of each bearing is narrow, the other face is wider. Since the bearing can only go into the races narrow face first, I'm going to assume that the bearings, when in place, will both have the narrow side facing the *middle* of the disc. Kinda like this:
> || < where the lines represent the disc, carrots the bearings. If so, how do the bearings actually stay in place? ...mystical bearing physics? ;) I don't wanna accidentally tap the races in backwards, that wouldn't be cool at all.
Also, I bought some synthetic grease from Mobil One, since I trust their fluids (ewww!). It's pink! And it doesn't have a smell! Anyone know of any issue using this stuff? It better be good at 2 dollars more than the next most expensive.
Thanks, and if you could reply to my email I'd appreciate it - I'm archived, but I wanna get the bearings done tonight. Thanks all who've helped!!!
