What size is the damn tool? was Re: cv joints

The Triple square isn't really a triple square. It's two 6mm allens offset.
The 6mm allen fits snuggly into the 12pt "triple square" bolts so if it is
an 8mm, then there must be a different type of measurement than the allens.
I use the allen wrench to take the covers off of the teardrops when I don't
have my 12pt socket, I've also used an allen in the axle bolts in the yard
and it works. The only reason the triple square works in rounded out allen
is because it has the added points, not because it's bigger. Try fitting a
7mm into a rounded off 6mm, it won't work, let alone an 8mm.

Like I said, unless the industry uses something else to measure the triple
squares I will guarantee you that the axle bolts are 6mm. My suspect is
that they go by the shank of the tool they carve the 12 pt out of cause my
6mm 12 pt socket fits onto my triple square like it would a 6mm bolt!
