PF vs. RD (heads only) Now with content!

Well, the thing is, I was told by 3 different seemingly knowledgable people (on the 'tex though, so you never can be certain...) that the knock sensor stuff required for the RD head HAS to be CIS-E. Besides that, I have CIS in my mk1 now to begin with, so one way or another I'll have to convert wiring. I would prefer to only rewire the car once, so it'll be either CIS-E or digi, not CIS-E now and digi later. So, is it true the knock sensor stuff has to be from a CIS-E car? Otherwise, an RD head with digi stuff seems like the best of both worlds to me.

If you want to convert a CIS head to digi the inserts are $2.42 at

So, no reason to scrounge them from a digi head.
NOTE: early CIS non-air shroud heads cannot use this insert, so always check
before making big plans.
