fuel pump, etc.

If you suspect the relay, just remove the fuel pump relay, install a
jumper, and take it for a test drive.

My R.I.P. '84 ABA Scirocco would cut off at 5500RPM every time, Randy at
Techtonics suggested I try the jumper test, and that was the problem. I
dug up a spare relay with the same part no. and it never happened again.

Subject: fuel pump, etc.

Assuming it is the fuel pump relay, where can I pick one up? Potter has
the pump, but a search on the relay came up squat. And given that the
pump itself is only $140, I'll probably go ahead and do it whilst doing
the relay. What's the difficuly level in doing the pump/relay? I think
Bentley said it was under the car, in front of the gas tank. Will I
need to drain the tank? How about getting under there to do it? I have
no lift available other than the ramps I got to do oil changes.

Any input would be welcome.
