G-tech Pro meters on eBay - $50

I don't know about microswitches....
The G-Tech gets it's basic measurments from an internal accelerometer. It's
just another electronic sensor that varies it's resistance (or some
electronic measurement) based on the acceleration it is subjected to.
So, if you take a reading every 1/10th of a second and you apply the old
standby F=ma and you know the mass/weight then you know the force, so you
can plot a torque curve. 50 years ago this really was rocket science. Now
it's just another accurate sensor and a little math.
If the thing is mounted right (so as not to make it think that gravity is
your acceleration), you use a flat road and there is no wind there is no
reason for it not to be accurate provided the internal formulas are correct
(and it appears they are).
