turboing an 8v

Shawn:
Do NOT use a knock sensor ignition on a turbo! (OK, just my opinion)
Maybe in conjuction with some ignition module that retards timing under
boost, but not by itself.
The reason is, there is no retard under boost. So, as soon as your engine
pings, and it will because there is no retard under boost,  the KS will pull
out alot of timing (too much) then slowly try to put it back in. Because it
pulls it out fast and puts it in slow (this is not sex here! Pay attention!)
the timing is too retarded for optimum power.
The KS ignition is a protection device, not a device to optimize timing.
There are several Megaquirt derivatives (or UltraMegasquirt coming in a few
months) that let you program your timing so it'll retard under boost. I'm
installing Megaspark on my nephew's turbo Rocco in the next week or so to
work with CIS. I'm sure at some point I'll post any data I get from this.
