2.0l swap; why not move air box?

> Mark, did you attempt to use an A2 air box at all? Was it even close?

I didn't try the A2 air box. IIRC it's taller than the A1 box though -
but don't quote me on that, it's been a while since I did the swap... I
just moved my stock CIS airbox and fuel distributor over.

I had an 86 Jetta GLI at my disposal. At the time I swapped the
complete RD engine in, including intake manifold and tb. I also grafted
in the knock sensor ignition system. The entire stock Scirocco 1.7l CIS
lambda fuel system was unchanged, other than relocating it. I also
mixed and matched A1 and A2 injector lines to make it a bit neater. I
later swapped in a 2.0l ABA bottom end w/ p&p'ed g-grind JH head, and
left the relocated CIS system unchanged, with good results.

You mean Megasquirt? That's were the good results should become great
results. I believe the CIS air flap is a big bottleneck in my setup
right now. I like the idea of a completely unrestricted intake, other
than the filter itself, without the birds nest of fuel lines running all
over the place. For me it's the next logical step to maximizing the hp
output of my preset setup. It also fits well with any future mods, like
a turbo or supercharger (I've been eyeing the Pro-Charger centrifugal
supercharger lately). Building and implementing a Megasquirt isn't
super easy though, but with some help from knowledgeable people it's not
impossible to build and tune...

What are you plans anyways?

Mark.
