Speaker sizes?

I would reccommend against the 4x6 size as well. Same goes for 5x7s and
6x9s, I really prefer round speakers. The surround cant physically move
evenly on an oval speaker and it distorts the sound at high volume.

You can fit a 6.5" speaker up front with just a little trimming. Take the
door panel off, and pull back the vapor barrier around the speaker area.
Trim the metal on the top and bottom of the speaker opening if you need to
make the magnet and frame fit. Now you'll probably need to make a plastic
or wood trim ring. I reccommend ABS plastic sheet which any car stereo
store will have. Cut your speaker hole in it then cut it out to fit on the
door. Screw it all together, reassemble and that's it! This will get you
way more midbass then a 4x6, and opens up your speaker options. You can use
coaxial speakers which have a tweeter on them, which is the easiest to
install. Most companies sell a high end coaxial which has an outboard
crossover. These would be ideal - saves you having to mount the tweeter.

For clearer sound before distortion - buy a 4 channel amp. Anything will do
great - 100 watts per speaker is what you're looking for.

the infinity 4x6 plate speakers (dome tweeter & 3.5 speaker) actually sound
pretty good. give them a shot.
