1.8 JH swap....bit more power...still sucks



Hi Eric;
    A tooth off of stock setting on cam timing is probably going to be too
much jump that is why we buy adjustable pulleys. A JH with a stock cam is
cammed for torque and advancing the cam lowers the power band which the JH
with it's stock mild cam probably doesn't like. If you haven't already done
so I would install a good exhaust system. Either a header or a TT dual down
pipe coupled with an early Rabbit 4 into 2 cast iron exhaust manifold. I
have used both and they seem to work about equally as well. After you have
done the exhaust if you desire more power I would recommend a new cam such
as
a Euro G grind. I don't know what fuel management system you are running but
even straight CIS will deliver a ton more fuel than a stock JH can consume.
