New Exhaust System Advice

I personally think it's not very cost-effective to buy a system like that, in the Scirocco's case at least. I find it much cheaper to go to an exhaust shop, bring a muffler of my choice, and have them weld that in. If you want performance piping, many shops have mandrel benders and carry stainless steel exhaust pipes. The cost of the system alone is cheaper that way, and you save even more money because you don't have to pay shipping!! Just my advice-

I pulled over and checked it out and the exhaust pipe split in half a couple of inches in front of the muffler. I'm currently considering replacing the whole exhaust assembly (factory original) from the catalytic converter to the tailpipe with one of the kits by Techtonics Tuning. This will be the first time I've every tried any kind of exhaust work, so I'm assuming these Techtonics kits would be pretty simple to install. I'm current considering two different assembles, their 253.323TT Exhaust 2.25 1984-1987 Scirocco-8V$205.00with a Dynomax muffler and the253.323FTT Exhaust 2.25 1984-1987 Scirocco-8V w/ Flowmaster$260.00with a Flowmaster muffler. What kind of difference is there with two muffler systems? In other words what would I expect to see between a Dynomax and a Flowmaster muffler other than price? I'm I going in the right direction with this exhaust system replacement? Thanks, Eric Singer84 8V SciroccoTrinity, NC
