Baby seats in a Scirocco???

Actually, this question has been asked before - a few times, in fact.

I regularly use an infant seat in my Scirocco for either my 2 yearold
(almost 3!) daughter or 5 year-old (almost 6!) son.

My daughter is still using a forward-facing seat with internal restraint.
The seat is fastened to the car via the rear belt and a tether anchor
located on the rear speaker/parcel shelf (which is a metal part of the
car.) The 85+ Scirocco/Cab Bentley provides the necessary dimensions for
location the factory approved spot to drill and mount the tether anchor -
I can scan and post a link if required.

My son's seat is a forward facing seat without internal restraint. When
he's in the car, he's using the rear 3 point belt I installed that was
acquired from a UK spec Scirocco by Andy Holmes (fellow lister) for me.
This belt is not retractable, but is set up with an H clip to adjust the
belt. It doesn't provide him with a lot of range of movement, but he
doesn't seem to mind that much, and I don't either... :) He is pretty
much at the size now (60lbs, 48.5") where he doesn't require the infant
seat (or booster seat in this case) but recently our provincial
regulations changed and I have yet to review the new requirements.)

I would recommend consulting the manual/instructions for the car seat
(before you buy) to ensure that it can be mounted safely with only a rear
lap belt and tether anchor. This is the case for most forward-facing
infant seats with internal restraints. Installation options for
rear-facing infant seats vary based on seat design.

I don't know about where you are, but here in Ontario, Canada, local
Health Units/Police etc. run carseat clinics where you can get guidance on
car seat installations - it may not be a bad idea to see if a similar
program is available in your area.

HTH,

Drew
