problems shifting gears ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

First look at clutch freeplay adjustment.
Then look at shifter linkage adjustment.
Then look at shifter bushings for excessive slop.

You need to give more information.  (how many times has the list heard THIS?...)

Did the problem start suddenly or are you just now getting worried (because of the upcoming trip) about something that has been going on for months?

Only problems in certain gears or in ALL gears including Reverse?
