Wierd oil problem - digest response

<<Maybe you are using too thin a oil. Maybe the oil is draining out of the
system and it is having to re-purge it after 12 hours. Other than that, I
don't know what could be wrong. Do you have hydraulic lifters?? Sometimes they
will bleed down and cause a clattering when the lifter itself is bad. HTH!

I won't discount that idea right away, but I have been using the same
grade for the last four years on this motor. Seems unusual for it to cause this
problem now, tho'.

<<Last time I had an intermitent oil light issue I was running 10w40 and
someone suggested I used 20w50, and when I switched the oil light stayed one
permanently, so I changed my oil pump. solved the problem...then again it
had over 150K miles on it.

maybe it's time to simply change the oil pump.?

Did that a few months ago when I installed the motor, but I will do a
pressure test when I change the filter and oil this weekend.
