coolant line question

I believe it's called a "heater pipe" - it either provides or returns
coolant to the heater core (I can't remember right now). Raffi just bought
one from the dealer for $80!! IIWY, I would try to source one from somebody
on the list or Vortex and just get it hot-tanked. Also, the 16v one
different from the 8v one. (Not sure if the Golf/Jetta 16v hose is the same
though...)

If you can, save the hoses too - that stupid 4" piece that goes toward the
firewall is one of the mismatched-sized end ones. Cost me $15 US
recently.... :-/

Subject: coolant line question

Hi, it's me again. The headache had been dribbling coolant, it's where a
short
chunk of rubber hose (with one of those @&*$)*@)_# spring clamps that the
mechanincs put in an impossible to get at location) joins into a solid steel
line that I guess goes to the heater core (still no Bentley, Canda Post
really
sucks). ANyway, the easy option was the rubber hose, but of course you know
that's not it, it's pinholes in the corroded steel line instead. SO is this
a
dealer part? and how much, or could I maybe get it from
Potterman/Adirondack?
And how many millions? Any tips for removal and reinstallation would be
appreciated, it's Canada Day today so I can't do much regardless. I don't
even
know what to call the part, to tell you the truth. So any advice is
welcome,
I think I'll spring for a new one, but LMK what other cars have a compatible
line setup. This car, it needs way too much attention, I tell you. Again it
chose to spew coolant within a mile of home, thankfully. It always has known
where to die.
Cathy
