Since I already bashed Westmoreland I need to chime in here - had a
Puebla-built '97 GTI VR6 that was VERY well screwed-together and
rock-solid reliable for nearly 60k miles before I unloaded it. My 337
was built in Brazil, and at 14k, it has been flawless. VW's QC has come
a long ways in the last 15-20 years. Yes, there are issues with the
current cars (coilpacks on 1.8T's, window regulators, stuff like that)
but overall, VW is building a good car in many different corners of the
world.
