As the owner of a *new* '83 Rabbit GTI and *new* '85 Golf GTI back in 
the day, I can definitely attest to this fact - the Westmoreland-built 
cars were pure crap, period.  It's a miracle that I'm still willing to 
drive VW's 20 years later after enduring some of that crap.
