battery relocation question

Drew,

I put my battery in the hatch for the same reason and ended up using the
same Exide one. The Optimas were too heavy and expensive for me.

I used the crappy Summit battery relocation kit. It comes with a crappy
ABS battery box, and the hold downs are really flimsy. I'd recommend
fabbing something yourself or buying one of their nicer kits. Also, I
don't know if you plan on dragging your car, but those crap non-sealed
ABS boxes are not NHRA legal when mounted in a hatch.

The kit came with 2 gauge cable. Even with a 20 foot run to the engine
bay I haven't had starting problems. Make sure you use good cable ends
and lots of dielectric grease.

It will be difficult to mount it on the passenger's side forward of the
spare tire well. There isn't enough flat space between the spare tire
well and the back seat. I mounted it on the driver's side just because
it was easier. Ideally, I think I'd cut out the well altogether and
weld in a flat piece of sheet metal and mount the battery on top of
that. But that's way too damn much work.
