Clutch Pushrod Question

Interesting, I am doing a mini rebuild, or freshening up the seals on my
clutch/trans and on inspecting the clutch push rod there are blued heat
rings on each end.  Nearly exactly the same 2" form each end.  Was a bit
suprised to see evidence of so much heat there.   Granted this may be the
original rod with 20years and 100k+ on it.
Just a novice making an observation.
