shift points for older engines]

  Yep,... Larry is correct here...   I typed a little too fast on that =
last one.  Mechanical timing is reverse of ignition timing.  You do =
advance ignition timing for top end and retard for low end.   Mechanical =
timing is just the opposite.  My mistake.  Just a little wired from work =
today.

  Very simply put; retarding the IGNITION timing will give you a little =
more low end while advancing it will give a little more top end.
  Now, the VALVE/CAM timing works just the opposite.
