Chad,
Check and fill your tranny fluid IMMEDIATLY.  If you caught it in time, 
you will probably save your tranny.  Low fluid will make it slip out of 
5th (my '84 did it just after I bought it, filled it up and it was 
fine).  Upgrade to Red Line fluid while you're at it.
