How many have broken their pedal assembly?

Subject: How many have broken their pedal assembly?

The piece I mean is the round cylinder that holds the clutch cable back.  Wondering cause I just took mine out, and purchased a used one, and I don't wanna have to take it out again.  Is this common?   Should I reinforce it before putting it in (perhaps a few weld lines?).  Thanks!
