3B Passat Dash in Rocco - questions...

Hey guys,
I'm back at the mercy of the list again. I talked to a friends dad who's
and OPP about me replacing my dash with an aluminum piece. He told me if
I get pulled over and they see that dash they will impound my car as
they will say it is unfit to be driven. He said its best off for me to
make a fiberglass replica or find a dash from a newer model that can be
made to fit.

Now...
I just recently started as a mechanic at a local yard (free parts!!!! :P
) and there's a 92 Passat with mint interior and a working sunroof (
already got the motor for my sunroof and now got to see how I'm going to
end up and making it work )
But was just wondering if anyone on here has done it and how much work
was it involved???
Also some pictures would be nice as well.
