I picked up a 2.0l 16v motor (with a Passat around it)



Allyn, just as you suggested, it is a 'primo' time to change out all the
nuisance parts while the motor is out.  Even an opportunity to do some
work on the head and maybe a little powder coating too!

honestly, its a straight swap. no tricks. no gimmicks. everything bolts
straight up. as long as your other accessories are in good shape (water
pump, clutch, etc), you just field strip the 1.8 block, put the 2.0
block in
its place, and put it all back together.

also realize that if any accessories/seals/gaskets/clutch are in
questionable shape, that would be the primo time to replace them all, as
they will all be removed anyhow.
