If you have a Rabbit AND a Mk1 Scirocco...

Most (but not *quite* all) of your question can be answered by simply
understanding what suspension/engine/chassis components are shared
between the cars.

Since suspension components (struts, springs, control arms, knuckles,
strut bearings, etc) are swappable between the two cars, the part of the
tower around where the strut bearing attaches MUST be the same between
the two cars, and the relative positions of the strut bearings to the
control arms also MUST be the same.

However, the sheet metal between the strut bearing and the fender could
be (and probably is) completely different. The strut tower is
spot-welded to the inner fender. It is *possible* that the entire piece
of sheet metal that makes up the strut tower is the same, but the inner
fender section is definitely not the same...it would join to the strut
tower and the control arms in the same relative locations, but follow
different contours everywhere else (since we know the fenders, hood,
headlights, etc, are different).

Hopefully, that was of at least some value! Good luck.
