(sorta ot) non-starting 16v jetta

my brothers girlfriends jetta died the other day, here's what she said
happened. she was driving and started to hear a high pitched noise from the
motor (bearings?). she pulled into an apartment complex and the car died. i
went to look at it and it had no oil. i added oil and cranked the car, but
it won't fire. just cranks endlessly. car is getting gas, and has spark. now
here;s the wierd part. when you crank the motor cooolant is being forced out
through the overflow, even though the car is dead cold. i removed the
radiator cap and had her crank the car and instead of coolant being forced
out mass amounts of air bubbles belch through the opening. if you put the
radiator cap back on it forces coolant through the expansion tank again. any
ideas? i've never seen a car force coolant out before without being
overheated. tia
   hit
btw- coolant level is fine (well, was fine. now it's low).

So Sayeth The Hitman
