[Re: Noise from tranny area]

That's good news for me. I have had a wheel bearing type noise. Turning to
the left caused the noise. It would go away while going straight or right.
Going over bumps also reduced the noise. I already changed the wheel
bearing(twice). I currently have the axles out and am changing them to rule
CV joints. They are both lifetime axles BTW. This sounds like its not my
tranny.

I have a mystery noise in the bug at the moment, and was told that to rule
out
the tranny, get out on a open chunk of road till you hear the noise, drop it
into neutral, and turn off the engine. If it's still there (my noise is),
then
you're looking at CVs, or outwards. If it goes away, well, I know a few good
tranny guys. GL.
