Still no alternator function- Getting depressed



    replace the + wire from the alternator to the battery. it dropped .6 volts
in the jetta with the a/c and brights on at the same time. it can get resistive
in its old age, just like the ground wires can.
    I think you may have overdone the grounds due to the + lead giving you
trouble. a single good new cable connecting to the stock mount points should
have no more than .2 volts across it at high load.
