I managed to source a pair of Boston Acoustics C700 II - it's a plate =
speaker with 5.25" mid and a tweet. They were $200 when they were new, =
have excellent sound and only go about an inch below the mounting =
surface (perfect for an early VW door!).

The problem is that the foam has begun to detach from the cone on both =
speakers. I've heard mutterings of people being able to repair this =
stuff. Has anyone tried it before (with any success? ;)
