Amplifier Installation

I need a little help.  I'm trying to use stuff that I have sitting
around the apartment.  I've never put in a amp before and I don't have
any instructions sheets for any of the stuff I have.  I want to add some
bass to my car and overall make my music sound better. Here's what I've
got:
Alpine Amp 3526 35 watts
Pioneer Head DEH-P7200 Super Tuner III 45 watts
Kenwood speaker system KFC-P205
Pioneer 4x6 speakers
What I was thinking to do was run all of the regular speaker from the
head unit and get a small sub woofer and run that from the amp.  Does
the 35 watt amp have enough power?  Does it make more sense to just get
a powered sub?  
Now for the wires.  Do I run a wire from the head unit wiring harness
that says "system remote control" to the amp terminal that is marked
"remote"?  I was going to mount the amp on the back of the rear seat.
