[non-roc] cis-e fox is slooowww..

Yeah. I know.. cloggin' this list with Fox questions. I should be shot.

Well I do you y'all are (in my opinion) the most knowledgeable vw mailing
list out there. So there... I can kiss ass, right?

Before you go and say "Damnit, Dave.. it's just a slow car," I'm saying it's
slow compared to my other identical Foxwagen.

Got an essentially free '89 Foxwagen back in September and towed it home..
PO said head gasket blew. I determined it just needed new valve seals among
other work..

So, I put new valve stem seals in it, and popped a new head gasket on there
(not sure it needed it, though.. I make poor diagnoses). I've driven it
around a couple of times, and it's just a dog. Takes forever to get up to
60.

Is this characteristic of a car with a clogged cat? Or would it just run
really poorly? It idles fine, and is otherwise running great. Just painfully
slow on the acceleration.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
-Dave
