OK, so if you show up at your Subie dealer and they just gave you
directions to the closest SCCA auto-x without the membership, that's OK?
After all, money's not an object. But they "care."  When Shawn said
that, I thought they sold perf parts or had a perf tech hotline...I was

Phew! Too many questions.  You must be asking this rhetorically (or to
make me type my ass off!) but simply speaking, you can set up a small,
light motor for a lot of hp that you couldn't otherwise win with because
of weight concerns.  WRC comes to mind

I wouldn't buy a turbo, even VW unless and until the repair record is
such that normal operation is well over 100k (read:  only time will
tell)

I have a B4 Passat VR6.  It handles very well.  I can't compare it to
the roc -- wouldn't be fair -- it needs a lot of work yet :)
