I appreciate the help and the picture, however, I am wondering if this
part was used in another capacity as the picture you attached shows for
an 8v with K-Jetronic fuel. I have a 16V and CIS-E fuel? Does the EKTA
have two entries for this part?

Here I join an attached picture of the item per say (item 21 on the
picture.)

Ok, thanks. So it has a vacumn connection to the tranny and an
electrical connection? Or does the vacumn go somewhere on the engine and
the electrical to the tranny? I don't care about nor want to upshift
indicator I am just concerned about having a vacumn port open.

While checling out my 87 Roc yesterday I came across a part that is just
hanging loose. It has the VW part # on it of 171919825 B and according
to the Bentley it is involved in the cold enrichment circuit. It is a
black assembly about the size of a half-dollar with a yellow middle that
looks to be adjustable with a scredriver. It has two vacumn hoses coming
off of it. One is about 2 inches long and I have no idea where it goes.
I don't see an unused vacumn port. The other vacumn line is long and
disappears into the driver's side fender near the battery. There is a
two wire connection coming off of it that at the present is not going
anywhere.

I should say this an '89 engine in an 86 rocco body.

Would appreciate help knowing what to do with this assembly. I can email
a picture if that would help. I think I found the part in the Bentley
but it looks like they have it on an 8v motor so I can't see where it
should go. However, the book says this part is only found on July 87 and
newer motors.

Wes
