Few 16v questions :-)

Hello,
                  - 16v Scirocco
I live in the north east and use 10w-30w oil... Would it be better if I
started to use 15w-40?

What's a good trans fluid? I put 80-90w in the other day and now I'm having
a hard time getting into 1st.. I really have to push it into gear!
