fargin' fuel pump

I had the exact same problem years ago on the olde 85 strassenkruzer acted
up
at the start of summer, and the good techs at ANGELO's OTTAWA removed and
cleaned the pump- in-the tank after extensive mucking about and several tows
to the garage.
I wondered if the pump-in-the-tank has an inlet filter that could get
clogged by tank rust??

(Tech declared that most 85 sciroccos models in Canada don't have
pump-in-the-tank
but I have no clue on that pronouncement. )

Anyway been running like for the last 5 years go figure. Maybe the big
subwoofer I put in under the
rear deck keeps the pump grit free!!!
