I believe one can remove Alt shaft bolts without an impact wrench, is
there any CheapAss ways to prevent mangling the cooling fan's fins?

The CheapAss way would be to take both alternators to a shop, or friend
with an air-tool, and have them swap them for gratis.

Most parts stores have electric impact guns and will probably swap the
pulleys for you.

A less desirable way is to clamp the large "sperm whale" ViseGrips on
the pully shaft, and break the nut loose with a large breaker bar.

You can also use an old V belt to keep the pulley from turning...

The nicest part of the 90A upgrade is that you can use a nice heavy +
cable, instead of the dual wires and funky connector.
