serious sunroof woes

i took apart the sunroof on the '86 to see why it wasn't working. as soon as 
i got the first 2 screws out on the passenger side to remove the panel i 
heard a springing sound, and the cables shot through into the passenger 
compartment. the cable housing is toast! so the cables were just kinda 
there, not going in any particular direction. never seen that one before. 
also it appears the the two long tracks that go back into the roof are bent. 
does anyone know if these are supposed to lay flat or do they have a slight 
gradual "upwards" bend to them?
