VW mentions benefits from tilting the motor backwards (slightly); lower
center of gravity, hood line and 
 less mass out at the ends.

In the other cars they also have some history they seem to be following;
Didn't the Dasher come out as non-transvers on up through the whole Bx
line? (Including US Foxes, called something else elsewhere).
