okay okay I have to ask, I keep seeing people posting year of a car with
86.5 or 88.5 and now 83.5 what make a rocco a .5 year more than the year
it was sold in ? if a car was sold in 1983, why would someone call it a
83.5? what is this .5 based on? please enlighten me once and for all.

To me '83 1/2 means that it has a 1.8L JH/2H trans and mono wiper.
Rumour has it that the early '83 Scirocco came with a 1.7L, but all the
ones that I've seen were 1.8L's.

'84 1/2 is the '84 Scirocco w/spacesaver spare/large tank/new fuse/relay
panel.

Some '84's came with the newer fuse panel and the full size spare, and
some early '84's came with the old rinky dink fuse panel with piggy
backed relays.

'86 1/2 is the first year 16V Scirocco.

I've never heard of an '88 1/2...
