Your looking at this the wrong way. Yes, if Joe Smith "borrows" Bill Browns
car, then Bill Brown can not be held responsible. However this is a child
and where I'm from the parents are responsible for all minors unless the
minor has been emancipated. If the child has been emancipated then you
should go after the child. There would be no harm in attaching his wages for
the next 15-25 years. He might even grow up a little for the experience. If
he is not emancipated the courts will hold the parents responsible.
