well...were to start this rant?

oh yeah.

Ok, when I registered for WF a few months ago, I spoke to 2 separate people
on the phone, and 1 via email. One of these people was Peter (owner of Rapid
Parts). I wanted to be in Scirocco Modified, but I was told I should be in
Super Modified. If I choose to go into the Modified class my 1.8t engine
swap would be judged as a stock 16v engine/I would just get "base" points
for having an engine since the 1.8t swap was to much for the class.

Ok, I get to WF, I go to super mod (please don't take this personally) and I
sit next to trailered cars (all non-Sciroccos) that are "museum" pieces, all
chrome/etc. Im bummed, but I took it in stride figuring I did this swap, its
my fault. After a little while I wander over to the other side of the show
and check out the Sciroccos and what do I see in Modified? 2 other 1.8t
swaps and a vr6 with a big bottle in the hatch...hmm....I start to get
pissed..

I wander around and ask some of the other owners what the deal was, and what
the judges said. Well, it turns out the judges were so goddamn dumb that
they didn't even know that 1.8ts did NOT come in Sciroccos, and 2, they knew
nothing about VWs because they were Honda people.

I left a few minutes after this because I knew if I stayed to see the
results I would have another incident along the lines of the McDonalds
crises at Cincy.

Sure enough, Rich gets 1st, Jason Cammisa gets second, and Dave gets 3rd.
Now don't get me wrong, all three cars are very very nice. But when the guy
who gets 1st has a full body kit and a 1.8t swap (2 of the reasons I was
told NOT to be in the class) it kinda pisses me off. To the credit of Rich
and Cammissa, they both fully agree that the judges were complete idiots,
hell they didn't even notice a massive rip in Richs seat!

Last year a person took 3rd that was NOT even at the show, and Brett was
awarded 1st in Modified Scirocco, and in Super Modified, this year they
couldn't provide one judge that knew what a Scirocco was, and they also
couldn't judge according to their own goddamn rules.

Last year I defended WF, this year it was to frigging much. I thing WF/Rapid
should send out apologies to every Scirocco in the show along with free
passes for next year.
