Hello all I bought some new cheapo struts for my 1985 mkII scirocco.
They gave me the inserts and I am having a hell of time getting the old
one out. I have the entire front strut out of the car. I then used a
spring compressor to compress the spring. Afte taking the upper strut
mount off and removing the componets from the strut I than removed the
spring. Accoring to the Bentley they don't show and inserts for the
struts. How ever after looking at the strut I believe the top of it has
a cap that unscrews. I have tried using a pipe wrench to get that tap
cap off with now luck. Am I on the right track? The bently doesn't show
the cap coming off at all..Any ideas of how to get the insert inside the
strut? Pictures to follow. Thanks for any help..
