[tech] Engine Balancing

Ben,

I had my bottom end all balanced when I built my 2008 cc motor. It was
pretty reasonable, about $200 I think, and they did everything from the
crank pulley, bolts, crank, pistons with rings and wrist pins, rods, clutch,
pressure plate flywheel and all the bolts and nuts for all those things to
be hooked together. It's way better then what the factory does.

I can tell you that my engine is super smooth. I've got a polyurethane front
motor mount and a VW Motorsport rear. I can hold my RPM"s at 7000 and it's
still smooth inside the car.

Not that balancing can add horse power or anything, but it can improve the
speed at which your engine can develop it's rev's, lengthen the life of the
motor and help your engine rev higher as well.

I'd do it again. -- Craig Williams
