help with strange noise



     Definitely sounds like the starter.  Shouldn't need to be replaced,
though.  You want to fix this as quick as reasonable as it's not being nice to
your flywheel.  I'm working from really dusty memories here (and having only
ever rebuilt starters for NA models), but you should be able to grease the
slides and guides inside to resolve this.  Depending on how it's put together,
you can probably LIGHTLY grease the shaft the pinion gear rides on to resolve
this without taking anything apart (other than pulling the starter out of the
car).
